I am Sherlene Anicia Dalrymple. I am a Tobagonian born and raised, living in Trinidad. I am a single parent of two brilliant children, and against all odds, I continue to persevere. I am an international author and entrepreneur who, in this season, is struggling to take care of my family. I currently reside at #37 Grant Avenue, Mt Lambert, in an apartment rental that has gone sour. We have been at this place for five, almost six years.

My landlord is sending messages of death through his calculated actions. He opened my apartment door using the spare key, used his high-tech tools to remove the hinge of the burglar-proof gate, and entered my apartment when we were not at home. [I had changed the locks on the gate after confirming suspicions that his wife comes into the apartment when we are not at home]. I initially thought he had reached inside the apartment, turned on the first burner of my gas stove, and locked the door, but the aforementioned is evidence of how he gained entry.

After examining both gates at the front and back doors of the apartment, I identified where the burglar-proof gate hinge had been tampered with. The reinstallation left the hinge loose, with scratches that were not there before. My son also maintains that the gas bottle was turned off; he maintains that he turned it off before we left home. We have a habit of double-checking and triple-checking on these things before venturing out. The landlord, after returning home, opened the front and back doors of his house and sat on the back step with his family, ate coconuts, and waited for us.

When they saw us approaching the gate to the compound, the landlord and his family hid by the back door of their kitchen and waited. As I walked up the steps to go to the front door of the apartment, I sensed that I was walking into a trap when the strong smell of gas hit my nostrils

I calmly unlocked and opened the door, but thank God my son ran up the stairs, and I had to go after him. The gas built up in the apartment began to release, making it safe to use the keys and unlock the burglar-proof gate.

I walked in, turned off the burner, then quickly opened the windows and pushed up the curtain. I went further and turned on the exhaust fan, thus allowing all the gas to go outside.

During this time, the landlord locked the burglar-proof gate of his kitchen and his back door; everything was heard through the walls.

I went further and disconnected the gas hose from the stove, where the gas bottle was stored securely in a cupboard designed for it, and removed the stove from the front door access of the landlord.

Due to a lack of cash, I failed to file another police report on that day, and I regret it.

I am not a careless person. I have been living on my own since the age of 22, and that sort of thing has never happened to me before. My children remain traumatized. We live in fear for our lives. What will stop him from burning down the house while we sleep?

My current financial situation is keeping us at this place. Can someone assist us, please? I am seeking to generate TT 10,000.00 to cover a few months' rent and security deposit. It will enable us to vacate the premises before the landlord's set date of October 31st, 2025.

After leaving, I will be able to return to Tobago to continue selling my available books and bags.

This eviction notice spans a year and was first issued verbally, though my rent is always paid in full.

Failure to find a place and move out led to the serving of a formal eviction notice on 11th September 2025, with his demands that the rent be paid in full up until the day we move.

Overtime, I repeatedly said to the landlord, every time I pay the rent, it empties my bank account and asked him to extend to me an involuntary loan, whereby I live rent free for one month and use that money to pay rent elsewhere and when I get back on my feet, the overdue rent will be deposited into his bank account, that was a no go.

I visited the Tunapuna Police Station with my children on September 11th, 2025, where I filed a report. The Sergeant on duty that I spoke to requested the landlord's number, and I gave it to him.

He called the landlord, and though the landlord told the police officer lies and half-truths about me, God swung things in my favor.

The landlord told the Officer that he would allow us to reside in his place rent-free all of September and October, with the 31st of October set as the moving date. He said this will allow me to generate both rent and a security deposit.

Yet! On Monday, 15th September 2025, the landlord, as previously stated, entered my apartment without permission, turned on the first burner of my gas stove, locked the door, and left.

What will stop this man from burning the house down with us inside, as we sleep? I fear for our lives. Can someone assist us, please?

We fear for our lives. Can someone assist us in moving out, please? I need to close this painful and fearful chapter of our lives.

Backstory

Before things got sour, I was able to sell my products from this said residence. I was able to pay all my bills on time and provide for my family. The landlord, David Lyndon Young, once sent a member of his church to my home to purchase one of my tote bags; she also bought one for her friend. He even took a few of my products to his church to market them also.

When I was unable to load my Visa Debit USD UTC card to import my published books from Amazon, the landlord used his credit card to bring in my published books, to fill customer orders, and get paid. I paid him cash each time for doing so. He has since stopped.

I have 60 published books on Amazon, 45 high-content books, and 15 low-content books. The books range from academic to religious books.

Book publishing took place between January 2023 and December 2024. I thank Almighty God for His assistance.

Access the following link to view the Amazon home page, where 41 copies of these books are found. https://www.amazon.com/author/bookbysherlene

The remaining books were published under pen names.

The Cause of The Eviction and More

One sunny day in August 2024, the landlord brought groceries from his church for us, along with clothing for my daughter. He left the items on the step, knocked on the door, and left, not seeking God for clarity. I took the parcels inside and gave my daughter the clothing to try on. When she tried on the last dress, a vision of her dead in a coffin flashed before me. I pulled the clothes off of her and flung them aside. After seeking God, He revealed to me the hidden intention of the clothing and instructed me to give them back, this as the only means to send back the spirit of death, I obeyed God's directives returning all the clothing to the landlord, the next day, because he was not available that same day to receive them, I thanked him for his kind gesture, and cited that I will buy clothes for my daughter instead.

This action of returning the clothes displeased him, and he resented me for it.

A month after that, the verbal eviction notice was served, with him citing my usage of ass, dam, and jackass as the reason, and that I bawl at my children. He has even classed me as a nuisance and annoyance. I am none of these things. I am a woman of intelligence and substance.

As a means to generate cash to increase my $2,000 financial threshold, I asked the landlord if I could erect a sign at the back wall of his property to solicit sales from people exercising on the Savannah; no permission was granted.

All transactions would have taken place outside the gate.

As previously mentioned, my current financial threshold stands at $2,000.00. It is what pays the rent at my current apartment. It does not cover the grocery bill, which is covered separately. It does not cover the payment of the utility bill.  It is also separately covered.

I am a work-from-home mother. Both my children are homeschooled. The eldest was born in 2017 and the youngest in 2020.

As mentioned earlier, I am an international author with 60 published books on Amazon. I also print and sell inspirational canvas totes.

 I am far from idle.

My daughter endured school bullying from the day I enrolled her in public school to the day I took her out. She was even almost killed in public school, when a standard three student took a gate containing a padlock and slammed her head, causing the head in that region to swell. After taking her to the doctor, the doctor expressed no physical damage but noted that a blow a little further forward would have burst her temple vein. She encouraged me to file a police report, and I complied. I went through the process to have her registered and approved for homeschooling.

I am going back through the same registration process with my younger son.

I travel to Tobago to generate sales for the products I sell, but cannot until we move. Getting the landlord to fix anything in the apartment currently is a nightmare; things were not so before the eviction notice.

He left a socket broken for four days, thus exposing my children to a severe shock hazard.  I purchased the item after seeking assistance from a friend, and he installed it.  After fixing the wall socket, he stuck a piece of wire in the bed, in an upright position, where my daughter places her head. She is the one who found the wire and brought it to me.

A Lucozade bottle filled with liquid was left by the landlord at the back of his house on the ground. The bottle was left in full view of my children. I kept them inside. He did not remove it, even though I asked him to. The bottle of substance remained on the ground for a month, till I moved it.

His wife, Judy Young, brought the police for me on January 23rd, seeking to have my children taken away from me, due to her allegations of child abuse, but God flipped the script, and up to this day, they are still with me. And I thank the Lord.

She first sent the police for me in September 2024, with allegations of educational neglect. This was when I was going through the process to have my daughter approved for homeschooling, but thank God the police went to the wrong house. I was informed by the person they went to after they left.

She visited my home, roasting with fever that day. She said the police came to the company of the district educational officer and an officer from the Child Protective Unit. They had come to take my children away. God prevented that painful outcome. Other events transpired at this location that are too much to list.

I need this day and night mare to end, we need to move. Can someone assist us, please?

In time, I will sell enough products and will open a storefront in Trinidad. Opening a storefront will enable me to better care for my family.

Until that day and time comes, and after that, my priority remains the safety and security of my children.

Can someone assist us, please? As stated, the total sought after is TT 10,000.00 to cover a few months' rent and security deposit.
