Hello Trinidad and Tobago citizens and wider readers. My name is Rhoda Sampson. I am a disabled mother of eight young children. I am a cancer patient and had double mastectomy in 2025 and I have had four spinal surgeries since an accident that rendered me disabled. I have been on intensive physiotherapy and pain management. I have applied for disability grant and no response since.
My family have been on a long journey with my ailments and my spouse have been the sole provider and caregiver for my children and myself. Due to my extended stays in hospitals( weeks on end) my spouse assumed a major role in caring for our family which resulted in being dismissed from his job.
My journey isn't over, in 2020 I had a surgery in which a medical device was placed in my Liver to save my life, my body rejected the device after 3 years but later found out that the device was supposed to be removed after 3 months and the medical team neglected to remove it or follow up on removing said device. Since that time I had surgery to remove the device and they had to replace it with a new one cause of the extensive damage done, my Liver was no longer functioning as it should.
Four years have passed and because of no after care, I am needing another surgery to remove the device that corroded in my Liver and caused cirrhosis. I am seeking the public assistance as my family cannot afford it. Basic family needs are sometimes out of reach and we are seeking assistance in that area as well. With each donation made assistance would be towards:
~ Surgery coverage
~ after care
~ Therapy continuation
~ family's daily basic needs.
