Our Friend, Father, Colleague: John S. Alexander needs our help. He is in need of urgent Cataract Surgery, as currently, he has been rendered almost completely blind. The much needed surgery will ensure that some of the effects of the cataracts are reversed, that, will in turn improve the quality of his life.

John, who currently resides in Arouca, was born and grew up in Laventille where he attended Laventille Boys Primary School. He attended Trade school, then went on to work in the Building and Plumbing industry. He is a past employee of ElectroTech, PlumbTech and Peakes.

Because of a back injury sustained in 2015, his ability to work and take care of himself financially was drastically reduced, from that time until present day. His diagnosis of Cataracts in 2018 only further compounded his situation. John has lost 100% of his vision in one eye and only has 20% in the next. All of this has made It is very difficult to obtain the much needed funds to cover his medical bills which amount to $37,000.

Since 2018, he has been enrolled in the Public Health Care system. His scheduled surgeries have been put off on numerous occasions, partly due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. He has to now resort to seeking care at a private facility before he experiences total vision loss.
