Logan is six years old and was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in October 2022. Even though his doctor said that he was able to attend a normal primary school with the assistance of a Student's Aid, the challenges associated with his Autism have overwhelmed both myself and the school.

From then to now, it has been a constant back-and-forth between the school and the Ministry of Education in trying to acquire an Aid for him. After an entire year of fighting the education system, it is now apparent that this Aid may just be a myth, and alternative options need to be sought regarding his education. The government-assisted schools for special needs children have indicated that they are over capacity and too understaffed to take any more children. The current school principal has indicated that her supervisor has suggested suspension because the behavior displayed by Logan at school seems to be at an uncontrollable level for them, no longer conforming to the rules of the school. A driven need to find answers to the root cause and/or triggers from the school has left me, as a parent, being shut down by the teacher and principal for months. It has further been stressed that they cannot handle the challenges with Logan's Autism. I have accepted that we need to place him in an environment more conducive to his needs and development.

As an autistic child, Logan can write, read, count (even do math mentally), and perform simple tasks independently. He has a speech delay, which makes it difficult to understand what he may be trying to express. He understands and can take instructions but has difficulty with what we would call comprehension. He is not a violent child, and while he loves to play, he would also keep to himself. Little children like Logan have so much potential, and the right schooling and guidance can help unlock that. It is apparent that our country has no real measures or plan in place to deal with the high number of children now being diagnosed as being on the spectrum. His speech delay also ignites the fear that he may be bullied or victimized, and I may never know. This is even more reason to expedite the process of moving him into the right school, where there is transparency from the members of the institution.

As a single parent, it has been most difficult navigating the last two years and even prior to his diagnosis. I am hereby requesting assistance to help raise the funds needed for him to start attending a private school from January 2025, as he can no longer continue attending the normal primary school. Your contribution will help ensure the first year at the private school is covered while I work on the remaining years.

Every contribution you make takes us one step closer to securing a safe and bright future for this little one. Your assistance to this cause is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Reshmi Hosein
