To whomever, this may reach,
Dear Mr. /Mrs.
You may not know who I am or what are my intentions in writing this letter but I intend to change that. I’m a seventeen-year-old female who is currently feeling extremely helpless due to our financial position. I understand if you may be hesitant, but if you please give me a few minutes of your day to explain. I know this isn’t the typical letter, but I’m beyond desperate as it concerns an individual I unconditionally love and would hate to see not receive the proper medical attention she deserves. This person is none other than my grandmother. Her name is Rookdai Paul and she came to this beautiful island of Trinidad fourteen and a half years ago in search of a better life. She is currently sixty-four years of age and in urgent medical care as she was previously diagnosed with heart and kidney failure and kidney stones. She is in need of dialysis and it's extremely expensive private, but my family is still trying to find a way to get this money. So this is my way of trying to help. We tried getting this treatment done in the hospital, but received the horrible news that she will not be able to receive it as she is not a citizen of the country. She has been with me all of my life and the memories I have with her are unforgettable. She makes the most delicious food and I would give anything to see her bright beautiful smile again. She has three daughters and three grandchildren. I’m the oldest and I cannot just sit at home comfortably while she is suffering in a hospital bed with unimaginable pain. I miss her so much and cannot see her because of Covid and the doctors say this is her last hope. If I could remove her pain and somehow transfer it to me, I would but I’m outraged and helpless. I need her to be fine again because she deserves to be happy and at home with her family. She is unable to eat, as usual, been in and out of the hospital and if I could help and make an effort to extend her life by a little I would. Please help her. Thank you for your time.
