My name is Demeen Smith, and I'm an unemployed single parent of two beautiful, bright, and resilient daughters. Life has always thrown its challenges our way, but recently, things have gotten overwhelming. The failing judicial system and my loss of income have not helped. I'm reaching out with humility and hope, asking for help as we try to stay afloat during this incredibly difficult time.
As a single parent, I've worked tirelessly to provide a stable, loving home for my girls. But recently, we've fallen on hard times-emotionally, physically, and financially. I've always tried to manage everything on my own, but right now, we are facing more than I can handle alone.
Meet My Daughters
D'Marie Smith: My Warrior with Blounts Disease. At twelve, she is the youngest who is bravely battling Blount's disease, a growth disorder that affects the bones in her legs. It causes pain and limited mobility and requires frequent medical visits, which we have not been able to make, therapy, and possibly surgery. To date, she has had four surgeries and now has pins, screws and a plate in the leg. The emotional and financial weight of her care is heavy , but she keeps smiling and pushing forward. She inspires me every single day with her courage.
Irmani Smith: A Rusing Star in the Pool and Ocean. My older daughter is an all-around academic achiever, cadet, and gifted athlete. Presently writing CXC examination, graduation is around the corner as well as what's next (A-Level/University). She dreams of continuing to represent our nation as a professional competitor. She trains with discipline and passion, but we lack funds for gear, competition travel, and coaching. Her dream deserves a chance, and I'm doing all I can to support it, but it's no longer enough.
With medical bills, rising living costs, and the demands of raising two well-rounded daughters on my own, we are not at a point where rent, food, and essential expenses are becoming impossible to meet. I'm not just asking for charity; I'm asking for a lifeline until I can get back on my feet.
