I've always wanted to be an Aerospace Engineer.
For as long as I can remember I've been fascinated by aerospace technological advancements and development, and I wanted to find a way that I could work on such projects and contribute to that industry. In high school I thought that I had everything planned out. I had great grades, merit list placings, extra-curricular involvement, community service, awards for almost every area, goals set and life planned out. But the universe had another plan.
My mom was involved in a car accident in 2016 that has shaken our family since. I abandoned my plans to pursue my studies abroad and instead stayed in Trinidad to pursue the closest available option. As these studies progressed, I felt as if my dreams were becoming more and more distant. After almost two years at UWI doing a BSc Mechanical Engineering, in 2019 I took a break from these studies to reevaluate my goals. I worked to save enough to travel abroad, since all of my previous university savings were spent on my mom's medical expenses.
After working, saving and doing online courses in Engineering Forensics and UAV Fundaments, I decided to do a Certificate in Aviation Technology at UTT. I completed this certificate with all A's, a 3.9 GPA and much encouragement and guidance from my teachers to pursue my goal to study Aerospace Engineering.
With my mom getting medical care abroad, I decided to finally apply to a college in Canada to pursue a Diploma in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering Technology and was accepted! I am elated and can't wait to start, but still have a savings goal to meet in order to be financially secure to pursue this program. I would appreciate any help that can be afforded through this campaign for my Educational Pursuits.
