Hi, my name is Avion Lezama. I am a Trinidadian living in TOBAGO most of my life. I have three brilliant, wonderful children.Every term since the first two has started pre and primary school, they have been excelling. They are very bright, aspiring young scholars. I am asking for help to put a roof over their heads. I am a single mother of three that has not had a job in four years. Why?, because I left a relationship that turned from sweet to abusive while pregnant with my last child. I have no support system and i rely soley on the assistance of good samaritans, some staff at the school that keep an eye out for my kids becasue they are respectable and do not cause any trouble.
For most of my life, I was envied as a child. As I grew up, life for me was comfortable and I had a roof over my head until I got older and other family decided that I do not belong in the house and so because of greed for house and land, I had to leave. Because of that my mother's health deteriorated rapidly seeing the hate and confusion. It took a toll on her mentally, but before my mother died she decided that she would try to rendered assistance any way she can. My mom and I both decided it was best I leave and when I decided I didnt want my young children mixed up in the confusion, my family thought it was best to stalk me and burn down the board house I was in when I wasn't home. Everything except my documents went up in flames. Where i had moved to i was so far behind God's back not even the closest neighbor 30 ft away knew my house burnt down. Therefore now having to live by strangers until better can be done. Thing is i can do better but not on my own at the moment and i am long over due to move out. My mom started buying material that could be bought and used quickly but unfortunately when she ended up in the hospital and after one week she decided she was ready to ascend. She died of cancer. Though the material was paid for some of it was never taken from the store for safe keeping. Certain family took it upon themselves to go with a vehicle and take the material from the store without the receipt by lying and manipulating the clerk into thinking it belonged to them and the police did nothing substantial to retrieve it. This was 2 1/2 years ago.
My mom was my backbone and support system in everything I did. I have tried starting the paper process with Self Help and the Division of Settlement but the requirements cosr money that i cannot afford. I managed with the kind help of my elderly aunt to get the process of getting water from WASA, but funds are not forth coming for anything else. I barely make it to feed my kids and I still need electricity and that process is also costly. They say god helps those who helps themselves and as such I've been trying to start on the foundation for the house on my own. My children need a proper home to grow and function.
