Hello,
My name is Christine St. Marie and I am asking for your support to help me finish law school.
I am a second-year student and the Hugh Wooding Law School. Prior to pursuing law, I practised Journalism for over 15 years. I still write sometimes as I have a passion for it. But at some point during my journalism career I fell in love with law as I covered the Court regularly. I remember admiring and being inspired by the attorneys who seem to have mastered their craft and so I decided to pursue law, as I see it as reaching my highest potential. But it is not just about that; it is not just about the money either; I would like to help people.
I am passionate about human rights and my ultimate goal is to be an advocate for women and children, as well as marginalized groups. This hits home as I am a single mother. I have also lost both my parents.
My educational pursuit has been so much more challenging as a single mom. It has been been long hard road.
I was able to start my Legal Education Certificate (LEC) programme at the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2017, after completing my Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill campus in Barbados. I received a scholarship from the Government based on humanitarian grounds and I successfully completed my first year. However, I was not as successful in my second year in 2019 and so I was required to repeat the year. Since I was unable to come up with the funds by September of that same year, I was not able to return to school that year. However, by the grace of God and through a sponsor I manage to pay half the tuition for the academic year 2020-2021. I still have a balance of TT$47,000 to pay and I am seeking your support to help me raise the funds. The only way this dream can become a reality is with your support and my hard work. I have been doing very well academically and the only obstacle at this time is my inability to fund my tuition.
I therefore plead for your assistance in realising this goal.
I am grateful for the time taken to read my story and I do appreciate your support.
Thank you and God bless.
