A corneal transplant replaces the damaged front surface of the eye with healthy donor tissue, a pars plana vitrectomy removes damaged gel, blood, or scar tissue from inside the eye, and a scleral-fixated intraocular lens implants an artificial lens that is secured to the eye when the natural lens can no longer provide support. Together, these procedures aim to improve vision, restore eye function, and treat damage caused by the injury. This injury has also placed a heavy financial strain on Neil and his family. He has not been able to work for the past eight months because of the injury, making it even more difficult to cover his medical expenses and provide for his loved ones. Neil is also a devoted father to three young children who depend on him every day. His ability to heal, regain his independence, and return to work is extremely important. This surgery is not only about restoring his vision, but also about helping him return to his responsibilities as a father and continue being present for his children.
