UPDATE because of COVID 19 the voyage to Antarctica is on hold until it is safe to do so. Donor support will eventually be rewarded when the Homeward Bound cohorts are again able to meet up internationally, hopefully in Antarctica in March 2023.
What is Homeward Bound?
Homeward Bound (HB) is a leadership initiative that aims to increase the influence and impact of women in decision-making to shape our planet. This programme brings together 1000 women from around the world with demonstrated capacity to lead, as women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Medicine), in the fight against Climate Change. Over ten years HB selects 100 women from around the world in each year, to join an all-female programme to draw attention to, and improve, the low representation of women in leadership positions in science, and in many other disciplines. The programme culminates in a three-week intensive training on expedition to Antarctica.
Let’s get Anjani to Antarctica!
Hi World! Guess what? I was selected to be part of the 6th cohort of the Homeward Bound Initiative. Yes! a Trini willing to freeze her butt off to be part of the Homeward Bound Programme, a leadership programme for Women in STEMM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics and Medicine).
Why? It’s an opportunity for me – A Trini Marine Biologist – to be part of the global network of 1000 women around the world working together to solve issues of climate change. Most importantly we learn to become women leaders in STEMM and inspire the next generation of scientists.
How? Fundraising! Fundraising! Fundraising! I’m asking for donations of any amount to help me get to Antarctica. It’s a lot of money but even a small donation from many places can add up.
There are about 10,000 kms between Trinidad and Tobago and Antarctica, and every donation will get me closer to this goal.
