Hello,my name is Jared Alfred.I am currently a BA Theology Major (Mission Emphasis) at the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC). In July 2021 I had the joy of being accepted for a transfer to Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan USA. Andrews Uinversity is the oldest and best institute of higher education created by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is the home of the James White Library and Center for Adventist Research. It is also home to the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, the place that continues to procuce scholars who are blessing to the denomination. My dream is to further my study of the biblical languages at the seminary. I hail from a family that loves language. In my case this love encompasses both ancient and modern. I love biblical Hebrew and the Spanish language. My campaign photo is a photo of me attending the Aranguez Hispanic Church for the first time in January 2021. I still currently attend the Hispanic church as I also have a passion for cross cultural/ foreign language mission. My long term goal is to be a member of both the Adventist Theological Society (ATS) and the Adventist Society for Religious Studies (ASRS).
Although this is a great opportunity, the financial aspect remains the major hurdle for me. I created this campaign to ask for support from those who understand the value of this opportunity.
Obtaining my I-20 and F1 Student visa remians the major step for me.If things went according to plan I would have begun attending in September 2021. Due to financial constraints my admission had to be deferred to January 2022. My sponsor needed more time to see if he would be able to help. Unfortunately, due to further constraints, he was unable to help in time and is still unable to help for the upcoming semester. My admission won’t be able to be deferred again. I really don’t want to miss this opportunity. I am hopeful that through the generosity of others my dream of attending Andrews will indeed become a reality. On arrival there are a myriad scholarships, grants, on campus work and summer programs that make studying at Andrews uniquely affordable. On my acceptance I was awarded the Andrews Partnership Scholarship which is worth $5000 US per year that takes effect on arrival. This was awarded based on my USC GPA. My greatest need at the moment is to pay my advance fees to Andrews in order to receive my form I-20. After receiving the I-20 I’ll be in a position to apply to the United States Embassy for my F1 Student visa and pay off the related SEVIS and visa application fee. When the visa is approved the last thing on the agenda would be sending all official transcripts to Andrews and booking my flight to Michigan. Please consider contributing to help make this dream a reality. Contributions of any amount will be greatly appreciated.
