My name is Alana Harrilal, I am 47 years old, and in 2019 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Avascular Necrosis (AVN) in my left leg and Stage 2 in my right leg.

AVN, also called osteonecrosis, is a serious disease where blood supply to the bone is cut off, causing the bone tissue to die. Over time, this leads to severe pain, joint collapse, and disability. It most often affects the hips, making walking and daily life extremely difficult. Without treatment, the bone deteriorates and arthritis sets in, leaving surgery as the only option for relief and mobility.

On April 30th, 2025, I underwent a total hip replacement on my left side, which left me home without income for three months. Now, on August 5th, 2026, I face another total hip replacement surgery on my right leg at the San Fernando General Hospital. While the surgery itself is covered, the medication, therapy, and essential recovery accessories are not — and they are very costly.

I have calculated that for three months of recovery, I will need approximately $6,800.00 to cover these expenses.

After surgery, my focus is on healing, regaining strength, and walking again without pain. But the financial burden is overwhelming. Your support will help me afford the medication, follow-up treatments, and supplies I need to recover fully.
