Hello Go Fund Me Community,

My name is Kim Lee-Inniss and I am a Jewelry Designer and Artist, native to Trinidad and Tobago. I am a single mom to a beautiful and equally artistic 10 year old son. I am setting up this Go Fund Me because I have been offered an opportunity that I believe can really change our lives but I need your help to make this dream come true.

Here is a little background to our story:

At the start of the pandemic in 2019 my husband of four years and partner of ten, left our marriage and I was forced to reconcile a new kind of life for myself and son. Though this was very tough on me, it allowed me a period to grieve but also to figure out what the next steps were, to craft the kind of life I want to build for us. That meant financial independence to take care of my family and to create opportunities for my son to develop and grow his talents.

I have been making and selling my pieces locally via requested orders, while working a 9-5 during the week. I make sure to be a part of most local pop ups and have created visibility for my work online however, I am a one woman show and need the tools to turn my business into a sustainable company that can really be successful. I recognized very quickly I was lacking the knowledge and business know-how to take this dream from a side hustle into the amazing entity I know that it can be.

This is where I need your help:
I began searching far and wide for schools, courses or mentors that could help me turn this thing around and found an incredible course for entrepreneurs like myself with the specific knowledge I need! I applied to Durham College in Whitby, Ontario and got accepted to start school in September Semester of 2022. The great part about this is I have a wonderful group of friends and family that are ready and willing to lend their support for housing and travel when we get there along with setting up enrollment for my son in an art program and schooling.

Things have been moving quickly and the funds required to organise visas, travel and tuition for myself and my son are just as urgent. My community of friends and I have been hosting a number of fundraisers helping me to knock off one little goal at a time, but I need a bit more help. I appreciate every single amount you can donate and cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity toward my family and our adventure.
