Ricky is the guy so many of us have relied on for tech support at CIBC Caribbean. He is patient, dependable and always willing to help. Now we're asking for your help for him. Ricky's journey to this point started six years ago, when a thorn from a Bael tree pierced his foot. Most of it was removed but a fragment stayed lodged inside for about a year and a half before it finally worked its way out on its own. Even after that, inflammation lingered in the foot. Fast forward to 2026: a 3-inch roofing screw fell into Ricky's boot while he was working in his garden, puncturing his right foot. Treating that new injury inadvertently reignited the old, dormant infection in his left foot and combined with Ricky's Type 1 diabetes, it developed rapidly into gangrene. In just two days, his left leg changed color from healthy skin tone to brown, then black. The infection had gone too deep to stop, and amputation became the only option left to save his life. Through all of this, Ricky has shown up to work with the same positive attitude he's always had. Even while facing something most of us can't imagine, he keeps the people around him in good spirits, still the first one cracking a joke, still the one everyone turns to when something's broken. Between the prosthetic itself, fitting, and physical therapy, the cost adds up quickly. More than Ricky and his family can cover on their own. That's where we're hoping his friends, coworkers, and community can step in. Ricky has spent years showing up for all of us, one tech problem at a time. Now it's our turn to show up for him.
