In the past year, there were many reports of women and children subjected to cruelty and abuse. These cases have been increasing alarmingly for the past several years but have become worse since the Pandemic in 2020. Apart from the issue of domestic violence in Trinidad and Tobago women are being kidnapped, raped, trafficked and forced into prostitution. I have decided to take the initiative to Implement an Emergency Program that would focus on the safety and wellbeing of women and children, once admitted to the program they would have access to security, medical attention, self defense classes, education and job placement opportunities that would enable victims to not be reliant upon their abusers. It is expected that through the implementation of our service, there will be a direct and positive impact on the community, reducing crime and violence against women resulting in decreased deaths. I am seeking funding for building materials for our much needed shelter, I hope that you will assist in funding me to fight Violence against women and children in Trinidad and Tobago and I look forward to your support for the execution of this project.
