Restoration and Relocation of a piece of history. The statue of St. Peter, created by the regional historian Eric Lewis, is now in jeopardy. This Saint Peter’s monument located at Grand Chemin, Moruga was commissioned in March 2012. For many persons of Moruga and environs, commemorates the Prince of Apostles- Saint Peter. However, this landmark is in dire need of infrastructural work, which remains a necessity for the longevity of the monument. Moreso, as a result of climate change, the monument is threatened by the raging waves in many ways.
Petrus- is known to be one of the greatest fishers known to man. Whereas Moruga is also a deep fishing village filled with heritage.
Our heritage also defines our future, to lose our heritage we lose part of history and patriotism.
