Norman McNeil was born into slavery on the island of Tobago in 1821. He grew up to be a stalwart on this island. He conclusively distinguished himself as one who concerned himself with bettering the lot of the enslaved especially in the area of education. Descendants of Norman McNeil created the Norman McNeil Family Foundation (NMFF) in 2021 to continue his legacy of education of those in Tobago.
The Foundation has Launched an Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programme in Tobago since many children aren't afforded the opportunity to attend an ECCE programme in Tobago and are disadvantaged by the time they reach primary school in Tobago at 5 years old. Some ECCE schools are publicly administered, but not all children are able to attend. Those whose families aren't able to pay the fees for private ECCE are disadvantaged early in life. This results in low educational attainment that stunts development later in life. Less than 20% of Tobago's workforce has a university degree.
The Norman McNeil Family Foundation is raising funds to sponsor children in needy communities and families to attend Early Childhood education. The target is full sponsorship for 10 children for 1 year each.
You can donate any amount. By donating TT$1,800 or US$270, you support one child for 1 term (there are 3 terms per academic year). Leave us your contact to be updated on the child that you have sponsored.
100% of any amount that you donate (after FundmeTnT fees) will be directly used to support children in need of ECCE.
