A Message from the Heart By Wendell Ackee: La Brea Resident, Husband, and Father of Four Blessings to all, My name is Wendell Ackee, I am a proud husband and father of four, living in La Brea. My journey began with great promise, hope, and God’s undeniable favor. In 2014, I was given the opportunity to work with a reputable company. What started as a one-month contract grew into two full years of unwavering service. Through God’s grace, I was made permanent. My family and I were grateful, hopeful, and looking forward to the future. In 2018, a dream became reality when my wife and I signed a mortgage with TTMF. We were overwhelmed with joy. Together with our four children, we finally had a place to call home. Life felt stable and blessed. But then… the world changed. The COVID-19 pandemic hit us hard. By 2022, I was retrenched. Everything we built suddenly felt uncertain. Yet, we remained hopeful. My children continued school, and my eldest who just turned 19 found work earning minimum wage. Though young, he stepped up in every way he could. In February 2025, I too found employment again, but at a much lower income than I was accustomed to. Meeting our financial responsibilities, especially the mortgage, became a daily struggle. Now in 2025, our family is in crisis. We have fallen into arrears of over $110,000. TTMF has taken legal action, and the court has ruled that we must pay the full outstanding mortgage balance of $500,000 within three months or face eviction. This is not just about a house. This is our home. A place filled with love, laughter, sacrifice, and faith. A place where our children feel safe, where we’ve prayed and persevered. I am humbly asking for help. Financial assistance or simply spreading our story anything you can do will mean the world to us. I still believe that with God, and with the kindness of good Samaritans, we can overcome this and save our home. From my family to yours thank you for listening, for caring, and for standing with us. With heartfelt gratitude, Wendell Ackee La Brea, Trinidad & Tobago
