Help Save Midnight _Abandoned Lab Fighting for Her Life

Hi everyone,

This is Mira Midnight Shadow, a black Lab who was abandoned and found me one morning while I was walking my dogs. She was hungry, thirsty, exhausted and when I stopped to pet her and take some pictures to share with local dog lovers to help me find her home, she simply started following us home. I couldn’t ignore her. She chose us.

Although I already have five dogs, I couldn’t leave her behind. It took some time for my dogs to adjust, but Mira proved to be calm, gentle, and patient. She slowly won everyone over and became part of our family. She sneaks on you during the day and night to receive pets and she even is able to regulate one of my pups who is special needs. I searched for her original owners, but no one came forward.
My family agreed that if no one claimed her, she would stay with us because we do not turn our backs on animals in need. Since bringing her home, I’ve done my best to provide proper meals, care, and love, even though adding another large dog has stretched us financially. She deserved stability, and we made it work. Then Mira became very ill.

After rushing her to the vet, we discovered she has a severe uterine infection, whihc was later confirmed to be excessive overproduction of cysts within and outside of her uterus and ovaries, which is life-threatening and required emergency surgery (uterine removal). Without surgery, she could have died from sepsis. She is also battling three forms of tick-borne disease, which likely weakened her immune system and allowed this infection to escalate. The vet explained that these diseases can remain dormant and resurface when the body is under stress.

Her medical costs, including emergency treatment, surgery, hospitalization, blood work, and medications, are currently totaling approximately $6500. I was able to secure a loan to begin emergency treatment, but I do not have the financial resources to cover the full amount or the aftercare she will need during recovery and medication to treat the tick fever and another rounds of blood tests within the next month to make sure she will be okay and does not need furtehr treatment.

I am asking for help to cover:

Emergency surgery
Hospitalization and monitoring
Blood work and follow-up tests Medications
Post-surgery recovery care
Nutritious food to help her regain strength and weight since she needs to have strong meds twice a day with enoug food for her to regain her healthy weight.

This fundraiser is specifically for Midnight’s medical care. My other 5 small breed white dogs are healthy and cared for with fresh food everyday since they have nutritional sensitivities.
