“Hi everyone, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my sister, Shawnalise Francis, she's only 19 years old and she's currently battling Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis, a rare and life-threatening autoimmune condition that affects the brain. What started as vomiting, headches, upset stomach, early ordinary symptoms quickly became severe. She is now in the ICU, where she has been fighting for her life. She has experienced seizures, required a ventilator, and is undergoing intense treatments to give her a chance at recovery. This illness is unpredictable and requires urgent, specialized care, including treatments like immunotherapy, medication, and long-term hospitalization. The cost of care is overwhelming, and our family is doing everything we can—but we cannot do it alone.
