January 2022, saw the end of Covid restrictions and the resumption of school. My daughter Sierra Vance was excited to go meet her friends again, sit her SEA exam, and start life as a secondary school student. But a nagging pain in her left knee from the Christmas before saw us visiting the doctor where we would learn that Sierra had a rare form of cancer in her leg known as a sarcoma and a few weeks later we would learn that it had spread to both her right and left lungs. By February 2022, at the age of 11, Sierra would be diagnosed with Stage 4 Osteosarcoma.
What followed was nothing short of a nightmare. She became bedridden, had her biopsy site turn septic, developed bed sores from her extended hospital stay and on April 19th 2022 she had to have emergency surgery to have her left leg amputated. A few weeks later she started some of the strongest chemos there is, which saw her with extensive bouts of nausea, vomiting, and unable to move out of bed.
There were times that I honestly did not think she would see the light of another day but through prayer, and the unwavering support of friends and family not to mention the doctors, she is still here today fighting. Sierra is now 12 and has lost her leg, her friends, and her independence but through it all, she has not lost her fight to live and her faith. Her one wish is to be able to walk again. Please help me make my daughters wish a reality by contributing to her prosthetics and therapy sessions.
The prosthetics will be purchased from T&T Orthotics and Prosthetics. Any contribution you make will go towards her taking her first steps to a long and bright future. We are using fundmetnt to make the giving process easier and more efficient, however, they take a 16.9% cut, and so if you'd like to donate directly, here are my bank details.
