IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Hi, my name is Jaylon.
I was born as healthy as any normal child, but at the tender age of two, my body made a drastic change. I started becoming very ill and gradually began losing the ability to walk and properly use my muscles. After many medical tests, it was determined that I now live with a rare disease called Juvenile Dermatomyositis.
This illness attacks my muscles and skin, causing severe inflammation, extreme muscle weakness, and painful rashes that affect my whole body. Every day, my muscles struggle to work properly, making it very difficult for me to move, stand, or walk.
Because of how rare and serious this disease is, I need specialized medical care, treatment, and therapy to help manage my condition and give me the best chance at recovery. Unfortunately, the treatment I need is not available in the country where I live, which means my family must seek specialized medical care for me internationally. This comes with overwhelming costs, which is why we are reaching out for help.
With the right treatment and therapy, there is hope that my disease can go into remission. This means that one day, I could regain the strength in my muscles, walk independently, and live as normal a life as possible. The care I receive now could give me the chance to bounce back and enjoy my childhood like other kids.

*How Your Support Will Help Me*

Your support will help cover the many expenses involved in this important medical journey.

Donations will help with:

• Round-trip airfare from Trinidad and Tobago to North Carolina for me and my parents

• Accommodation and meals during our three-week stay while I receive treatment

• Specialized rehabilitation therapy for three weeks at the MOVE Pediatric Therapy Center to help rebuild my strength and mobility

• Medical consultations, evaluations, and diagnostic testing with specialists at the Rheumatology and Immunology Clinic at Duke in Durham, North Carolina

• Laboratory tests and follow-up consultations needed to guide my treatment plan

• Transportation to and from medical appointments, including trips to Duke for consultations, blood tests, and follow-ups

• Medical-related travel and local transportation expenses during our treatment period

Every act of kindness brings hope for me. Even the smallest donation can go a long way in helping us reach our goal and begin the first phase of my treatment. This is an important step toward healing, knowing that my journey to recovery may require continued care in the future.
I fight pain every day, but with your help, I won’t have to fight alone.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with me and helping me through this fight.
