I have BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder)
Someone suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) battles a serious mental illness characterized by pervasive emotional instability, identity disturbance, and difficulty managing impulses. Individuals experience near-constant, overwhelming emotional pain and chronic feelings of emptiness, with moods that can violently swing from euphoria to intense rage or despair within a matter of hours. This emotional dysregulation is often accompanied by an intense, consuming fear of real or perceived abandonment, leading to chaotic, volatile relationships where others are rapidly idealized or devalued. To cope with this internal anguish and fear, sufferers may engage in risky or impulsive behaviors—such as substance abuse, reckless spending, or sexual impulsivity—as well as severe self-harm or suicidal gestures. Ultimately, living with BPD is often described as being at war with your own mind, as the fluctuating sense of self and severe stress-related dissociation make it incredibly challenging to function in daily life.
