Project Christmas Cheer Initiative is an initiative of The United Hands Alliance Community Group (UHA) and this would be its 4th instalment of Christmas Cheer!
The advantage of this initiative being a product of a humanitarian group is that we are able to use our Needs Assessments generated throughout our yearly works and actually gift the relevant items that so many underpriviledged persons actually require! We also liaise with groups from other areas and we partner at times, as we did last year to support the flood-stricken areas in Barrackpore. In this instance, we were able to assist in bringing cheer to over 300 kids and families.
Of course, we MUST also spruce up the Christmas giving with toys, books, clothing and surprises that our Team and Support Groups pay forward, sponsor etc but so often, the basic necessities for these kids are often neglected. The UHA is focused on ensuring that children do not want for what they need and they are cared for throughout the year!
Our Team has already procured some furniture that suffered minor damages and we are fixing them up, but so much more things need to be organized for this season! As Education has always been at the forefront of our minds and we usually sponsor Vocational courses for Kids, Young Adults and Single Mothers, we will again be sponsoring 35 students for such 6-8 week Vocational courses for this Christmas period.
We will also be donating food hampers, devices for online learning, clothing, appliances, as well as making room for our final event.
On Christmas Night, we have identified an area to be decorated and we will be hosting a lovely Christmas Dinner, along with entertainment for the disadvantaged. We will be transporting the kids and their parents to the venue to indulge in an evening of Christmas Cheer! We will also sponsor the outfitting of all the kids so they are decked up at their best!
