Who am I?
My name is Chantal Mohammed and my family and I are seeking assistance for funding for my dad's (Naz Mohammed) heart treatment and surgery.
How it all happened?
On Thursday 10th September 2020, my dad had a massive heart attack. We called the ambulance and he was taken to a pubic hospital. Upon arrival, he was swabbed for Covid-19 despite the symptoms of a heart attack. He was made to wait 5 days for his Covid swab results. During this time, his condition greatly deteriorated.
Meanwhile, the doctors alerted us that my dad was in need of urgent medical care, as he was
considered to be in critical condition. On the fifth day, a newspaper article prompted the release of his results. See article:

As time passed by, our family was told that the waiting list for the bypass surgery that my dad needed was months, and in some cases, years long. He did not have that time. He was a high risk patient and getting the surgery done was his only chance of survival. My family gathered the finances and we managed to get the surgery done. However, due to his fragile state, my father suffered major post- operative complications and is now in critical condition in an intensive care unit. As a result, he was placed in an induced coma for 7 days due to the complications.
With a weak heart, he also needed an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator).We were again told that due to the urgency of his situation, he could not be placed on a waiting list and had to have the ICD installed immediately, at an additional cost.
My dad has been through a lot in his lifetime, with this being his 16th surgery, as he was 65% burnt in an explosion which required multiple surgeries many years ago.
Why we need funding:
Due to his fragile state, the total cost of his care has amounted to $637,000. He has been in ICU for 15 days and counting. We have exhausted all our finances and are in need of money to cover his care so that he can be returned to us after these past 6 weeks of challenges.
