Hello everyone, my name is Natalie Joseph and my son, Triston Ramlochan, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia at the tender age of eight in 2017. Triston is a loving and caring child whose whole world got turned upside down when he was diagnosed. As a mother, it broke my heart watching my child undergo numerous treatments, being in pain, and not being able to enjoy himself as a child should. He missed many days of school, many birthday parties and so many milestone events in his young life. Triston responded well to his upfront therapy. he completed therapy in mid-2020. sadly, approximately 1 year after his end of treatment, he had an isolated bone marrow relapse of his leukemia. He was immediately started on relapse chemotherapy however after the first cycle of his treatment, his leukemia was still present. Given that Triston still has leukemia after salvage chemotherapy, his only chance of long-term cure will be a treatment that involves immunotherapy and a bone marrow transplant or cellular therapy. All of these therapies are not available in Trinidad and Tobago. The pediatric oncologists at the Eric Williams Medical Science complex are arduously working on trying to keep Triston's leukemia controlled until they can secure a cancer center abroad that will accept and provide this life-saving therapy for him. The exact cost for these treatments has been determined, Triston has been excepted by the Apollo hospital in India. the cost for medication and transplant is $1,168000 tt, any assistance will be greatly appreciated, time is of the essence.
