Food insecurity is one of the greatest issues facing the Caribbean region. We currently spend 5 billion dollars on food imports. We at Pristine Farms aim to get rid of this problem by helping to expand agricultural production in the Caribbean region.

One of the major challenges that farmers experience in the Caribbean is lack of access to advanced machinery to produce staples such as wheat, corn and rice on a large scale. Over the years it has been observed that the average age of the farming population has increased. Despite the interest shown by the younger generation in the agricultural sector there have been barriers preventing their entry into the industry. These barriers include lack of access to funding, land and equipment to begin farming.

In order to solve this challenge, we aim to raise $USD600,000 ($TT4,200,000) in pre seed funding. We plan to allocate this money to eventually acquire 250 acres of farmland and to purchase machinery to develop and farm the land.

We would like to farm livestock such as chicken, pigs and cows. Our main livestock product, however, will be goat meat. We currently import over 80% of all goat meat in the Caribbean and we would like to reduce this.

Additionally, we aim to produce short crops such as tomatoes and sweet peppers.
We will use advanced methods such as vertical farming and propagation methods such as cloning and tissue culture to increase our yields.

In the future we would like to venture into aquaculture.
